The energy sector is changing rapidly as disruptive technologies, evolving customer expectations, and new market entrants drive transformational change. LDCs increasingly require leaders who can manage and guide teams through complex, regulated environments using structured and effective change management approaches.

Delivered in partnership with TidalShift and APMG International, this program enables participants to earn the internationally recognized Change Management Practitioner™ (CMP) designation. The program is designed to build both foundational knowledge and applied skills for leading and sustaining organizational change.

The electronic course textbook, The Effective Change Manager’s Handbook, is provided in advance and mandatory pre-reading is required prior to the session. Daily homework assignments and practice exams are included. Participants complete two exams: the APMG Change Management Foundation exam following the first block of sessions, and the APMG Change Management Practitioner exam at the end of the course.

  • Format: Virtual program delivered over multiple sessions
  • Designation: APMG International Change Management Practitioner™ (CMP)
  • Credits: This course qualifies for 35 hours of CPD from PMI toward the PMP designation upon successful completion

Course Outline

The Change Management Certification Program (CMP) consists of two components: Change Management Foundation and Change Management Practitioner.

Change Management Foundation (Part One)

Performance outcomes include:

  • Preparing individuals for change
  • Assessing organizational change readiness and impact
  • Leading organizational change initiatives
  • Engaging stakeholders for successful change

Learning objectives include:

  • Understanding how individuals learn and why resistance to change occurs
  • Building effective change teams
  • Applying stakeholder engagement and communication strategies
  • Planning, implementing, and sustaining organizational change
  • Assessing change readiness and addressing resistance

Change Management Practitioner™ (Part Two)

This component focuses on applying and tailoring change management guidance within real organizational and project environments.

Performance outcomes include:

  • Developing individual learning to enable change
  • Managing change within the project environment
  • Delivering sustainable organizational change
  • Preparing for the APMG Change Management Practitioner exam

Learning objectives include:

  • Defining change requirements for all stakeholders
  • Understanding governance within the project environment
  • Applying organizational levers, adoption approaches, and reinforcement systems

Participants must successfully complete the Change Management Foundation component prior to completing the Practitioner section. Daily homework and practice exams are provided throughout the program.

It is particularly suited to professionals working in environments where significant change is being planned or actively implemented.

Cancellations received in writing ten (10) working days prior to the course start date will receive a full refund, less a 20% service fee (plus 13% HST). No refunds will be issued after this period.

Substitution of registrants from the same organization may be made up to the course date.

The MEARIE Group reserves the right to postpone or cancel any course due to low enrollment. In such cases, participants will receive a full refund or may transfer their registration to a future session.

How do I register?

How do I see training I have registered for?

Training Courses you have registered for are available on The MEARIE Portal. If you do not have an account, visit: Register on MEARIE Portal to create an account. Once logged in, click "My Courses" in the navigation bar on the right to display courses you have registered for.

I haven't received my certificate, what do I do?

Who provides the courses?

MEARIE is the provider of these courses in partnership with various subject matter experts. All of these experts have extensive experience within their respective fields, as practitioners and/or industry consultants.

Will I receive confirmation of my enrolment?

Yes. When you register for the course, a confirmation email will automatically be sent to you.

Are courses available online or in-person?

Courses may be offered online or in-person. Please consult the course's page and date to verify in which format it is being offered. Several of our more popular courses are offered in both formats throughout the year. Be sure to check out course options at www.MEARIE.ca/Training.

What technology do I require to take an online course?

Yes. We recommend using technology with both audio and video capability. We use ZOOM, so be sure it is installed on your computer. It is helpful if you use headphones to help hear one another clearly. As some sessions are interactive, we request the video function be turned on. While the session will work on a tablet, we recommend a desktop or laptop computer as the experience is more engaging and rewarding. A link to the session will be sent via email to you prior to the session. We encourage you to login a minimum of 5-minutes prior to the session start to ensure you successfully connect to the session. 

For online courses, can I use a tablet or phone?

We recommend using a computer for both audio and video capability. While the session will work on a tablet, using a computer provides a more interactive experience. We do not recommend using a phone.
