This course provides leaders with practical tools and strategies for managing employee performance in a unionized environment. Participants learn how to set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues while working within the framework of a collective agreement.

The course uses real-world scenarios relevant to the utility sector to build confidence and competence in performance management.

  • The principles of Management Rights
  • The roles of the employee, supervisor, and union
  • How to undertake and lead investigations and interviews
  • Culpable versus non-culpable conduct
  • The concept of “Just Cause”
  • Steps in the progressive discipline process
  • Managing employee performance fairly and consistently in a unionized environment
